We’ve already gotten robes.”\n“We’ll ask for you.”\n“Do as you please.”\nThe monks from the group of six then went to householders and said,\n“Monks have arrived whose robes have been stolen.\nPlease give them robes.”\nAnd they asked for many robes.\nSoon afterwards in the public meeting hall a certain man said to another,\n“Sir, monks have arrived whose robes have been stolen.\nI’ve given them robes.”\nThe other replied, “So have I.”\nAnd another said the same.\nThey complained and criticized those monks,\n“How can the Sakyan monastics ask for many robes without moderation?\nAre they going to trade in cloth or set up shop?”\nThe monks heard the complaints of those people,\nand the monks of few desires complained and criticized those monks,\n“How could the monks from the group of six ask for many robes without moderation?”\nAfter rebuking those monks in many ways, they told the Buddha.
