They were Asama, Sahalī, Niṅka, Ākoṭaka, Veṭambarī, and Māṇavagāmiya, and all of them were disciples of various monastics of other religions. They went up to the Buddha, bowed, and stood to one side.\nStanding to one side, the godling Asama spoke this verse about Pūraṇa Kassapa in the Buddha’s
